Name: Jake Stone

Jake is an only child, however this has never bothered him, as he is content with being by himself. He had an extremely nice and pleasant childhood and was extremely well rounded in school. However, when Jake was 10 years old, both his grandparents died within two weeks of eachother. His grandmother died of breast cancer and his Granddather simply could not cope without her. This had a massive impact on the lives of Jakes parents, expecially his Mum, who totally broke down over the events that took place. Jake's father felt like his wife was loosing grip and he didn't know what to do as he was too, in a state of shock. Jake's Dad quickly turned to drink for a solution and this had a massive impact on Jake's life. Jake, for the first time in his life, felt truly alone and didn't know who to turn to. As a result of this, Jake started to almost give up on school and any future ambitions and hope he possessed in the past.

After a couple of years of attending secondary school, constantly disobeying and getting into trouble, Jake found an outlet in which he could express his emotions and feelings through the form of graffiti which was introduced to him by his best friend 'Matt'. After a while of just 'doodling' in his school books of graffiti sketches, Jake started to become heavily involved within the graffiti world, and the sub-culture that surrounds it. He soon rose to the top, and quickly became almost 'famous' in the graffiti scene and amoungst other graffiti writers. However, whilst Jake become involved in this, he soon started to take drugs such as cocaine. With no parents around to guide him, and no one there to give him advice, Jake slowly started to loose grips with reality. It was then up to his parents to try and help him get back on track and help him. His father suggested that he move to Australia with his Uncle, Jake went along with the plan as he realised that he couldn't carry on like this and that he needed to get away from this culture. However, on the eve of his travels, Jake was hit by a tube train at Barking station and Jake instantly died.

Name: Mathew Robinson

Mathew (Matt) is Jake's best friend, and has been for the past three years. Matt is the youngest of his family. He has a sister who is 2 years older than him, and a brother who is 7 years oler than him. However, Matt has never felt that close to them. Matt used to get severely bullied in his primary school, and felt like an outcast from society. When he left his primary school and was about to attend secondary school, he wanted to do anything he could to stop him being bullied again. So as a result, Matt looked to be the total oppisite of a person being bullied, so he became a bully himself. Matt felt like he had to prove himself and show that he was the 'coolest' person in the school. Matt made sure that he was the first to smoke, get drunk and take drugs in his year. During his outrageous actions, he became friends with a quiet boy in the year below him, this was Jake. Matt doesn't know why he first became attracted to Jake as a friend, but he liked him and started to introduce Jake to his 'style' of living. Jake wasn't too interested into what Matt liked, however he was extremely interested in graffiti that Matt did occasionally. Matt started to teach Jake how to do graffiti, and before long, was taking him out to paint trains. This helped thier friendship grow. After Jake died, Matt was able to deal with it and come to terms with it. Jake opened up a graffiti shop in East London and started up a graffiti company called 'WHYME?' in memoration of his best friend. Matt's business is currently going well and Matt is happy with his life.

Janice Stone has been a nurse for 20 years. She has one brother who now lives in France. Janice has always been close to her parents, however when they both died she felt extremly alone in life and did'nt know what to do. She simply could not function without them, and did not get out of bed or go to work for about 2 months after they died. This not only resulted in her getting fired from the hospital she worked at, but it had a massive impact on the lives of her family members, expecially her son Jake. She has slowly started to get back to grips with reality in the past few months. However, she has totally lost all faith now that her son has died and has turned to drugs for the answer.

Name: Steve Stone

Steve has one brother and has never been close with his parents. He is a builder and has been all his life, he enjoys his job and is good at it. He got married in 1993 to Janice and had one child, Jake. His life went well as Jake was growing up, however when Janice's parents both died, and she broke down, he didn't know what to do and he felt lost and alone. As a result, he turned to drink for the answer. He quickly became an alcoholic and remained one for three years. He was able to carry on going to work, but relied on drink to get him through the day, however the relationship with his wife crumbled. When his son Jake died at the age of 16, Steve felt like he could not carry on living and commited suicide.
